Friday Cheers
The Membership and Fellowship commissions would like to remind everyone of a perennial favorite here at St. Matthias’: Friday Night Cheers. This is a longstanding tradition among the adults in your church family. Lou and Monte Montgomery open their home (and, especially, their wonderful back yard) in the Village of Midlothian for a starry evening gathering one Friday each month of summer. Just bring your beverage of choice and a snack to share. Everyone is invited – no need to RSVP, just come. There will be music, conversation and excellent opportunities for fellowship. This is an adults only function, so you may need a sitter. This year we’ll be trying out a new feature – babysitting offered in the church nursery. The nursery will be available from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Youth members will staff the nursery with a supervising parent or home-from-college adult and the cost will be a suggested donation of $5 per child. If you think you might use the nursery, please let Meg Griffin know so we can be sure to have enough sitters! Maps to the Montgomerys’ home, in the Village of Midlothian, are available in the Commons.
TIME: 7 ISH - This event takes place RAIN or SHINE!
The remaining dates for this year will be July 17 and August 14. The theme for July is A Spanish Garden Party. If you would like to join in the fun with this theme, consider bringing any type of Spanish “tapa” – Spanish cheeses with crackers, Mediterranean marinated olives, empanadas, or even some cava (Spanish sparkling wine). If you are interested in greeting for either date, please contact Lou Montgomery.

CARITAS Furniture Bank: If you have any gently used furniture you would like to give away, the CARITAS Furniture Bank is the perfect place to donate it. Please see the Outreach bulletin board for information.

ADULT MISSION TRIP. Mark your calendars!! The adult mission trip to the Eastern Shore begins on Monday, September 14th. The outreach commission at Emmanuel Jenkins Bridge has already identified two ramps to be built, and continue to search for other projects.
We are also invited to services and an ice cream social the day before, and we will continue the tradition of a beach party and crab feast. As usual, housing will be provided by the members of Emmanual. More information and a sign-up sheet will come later, but if you have any questions, call Jane Griffin.
