Journey to Adulthood and EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) nurture our spirit, provide fun and fellowship, encourage outreach opportunities, and give us support. Groups meet as scheduled and include Sunday morning Breakfast Clubs.
There are many opportunities for youth to become involved in worship at St. Matthias. We always need acolytes, ushers and youth lay readers.
Christian Education for Youth
Sunday School (ages 3 - 18)
Each Sunday during the school year, from September through May, children and youth gather for Christian education at 10:00 a.m. Preschool through fifth grade currently study the Episcopal children's curriculum. In the fall of 2003 preschool cildren will be introduced to Godly Play, a hands-on exploration of our sacred stories. Middle and high school students take part in Journey to Adulthood, a program of spiritual formation aligned in three groups– Rite 13, J2A and YAC (or Young Adults of the Church).
Children’s Liturgy (ages 3 - 9)
During both 8:45 and 11:00 services, children are given the opportunity to follow an acolyte to children's liturgy where they hear an age-appropriate gospel message and share in prayers.
Broader Opportunities
Happening is a spiritual renewal weekend for teenagers in grades 10-12. Learning about and experiencing the love of Christ is the focal point of the gathering—fellowship and fun play a large part in the schedule.
