...to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. - Ephesians 4:12-13
Christian Formation for Children & Youth
St. Matthias' Episcopal Church has a history of strong Christian Formation programs for children and youth, staffed by very active and supportive volunteers. Christian education is offered for all ages on Sunday mornings at 10:00am (September through May). During this time Preschoolers enjoy Godly Play, where they explore the sacred stories of our faith and are nurtured in their own innate experience of God. Kindergarten through sixth grade take part in WorkshopCycles, a rotation workshop model designed for the Episcopal church. Middle and high school students participate in the outstanding Journey to Adulthood program of spiritual formation. Combined with an active EYC program, Journey to Adulthood youth gather in three groups: Rite 13/EYC, J2A/EYC, and YAC/EYC (or Young Adults of the Church in upper high school grades.)
Mid-week is a favorite time at St. Matthias' known as LOGOS, giving children in Kindergarten through middle school a time of fellowship, Bible study, worship skills/music, crafts and games.
Summer brings a whole week of enjoyable learning with Vacation Bible School for kindergarten and elementary aged children.
