St. Matthias is always represented by the two-edged sword and the Bible. The two-edged sword represents the persuasiveness with which he preached the Gospel. The other side represents the manner in which he was martyred. He was beheaded. The Book represents the preaching of the word of God.
Where are we?
St. Matthias' Episcopal Church is located in northern Chesterfield County, adjacent to the city of Richmond, Virginia. Most of our members reside near the church, although more than a few come from Powhatan County, Henrico County or the city.
DIRECTIONS: From downtown Richmond, take 195S (Powhite Parkway). Take the Forest Hill exit (toll 50¢). Follow Forest Hill Avenue to Huguenot Road. Take a left on Huguenot Road. St. Matthias' is apprx. 2.5 miles on the right. From Midlothian Turnpike, turn onto Huguenot Road. The church is located about 1.5 miles on the left.
